CLIMATE

April in the Netherlands marks the beginning of Spring, a beautiful time of year, but with notoriously unpredictable weather (the Dutch say: "April does what it wants"). Average maximum temperatures range between 12ºC and 14ºC, with still cool nights (minimums of 4ºC to 6ºC). Although it is one of the least rainy months, the wind and the possibility of unexpected rain require wearing several layers of clothing and a windbreaker. It is the ideal time to visit the Netherlands, as it coincides with the longest days and the peak blooming of tulips.

A Journey Through Canals, Art, and Tulips

The Netherlands is a destination that enchants with its unique combination of history, art, and a perfectly flat and organized landscape. Its capital, Amsterdam, is the central point of interest, famous for its canals classified as a World Heritage Site, its narrow and leaning houses, and its bicycle culture.

Art lovers will find a treasure trove in Amsterdam's museums, most notably the Rijksmuseum, where the work of Rembrandt can be found. A visit to the Anne Frank House is also a historic and moving experience.

Beyond the capital, there are also several icons that define the country. Windmills, such as Kinderdijk (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and Zaanse Schans, offer a glimpse into the rural landscape and Dutch culture, as do factories producing Dutch cheeses and clogs.

In Rotterdam, an icon of modern architecture, we can admire the futuristic Markthal covered market. The Hague, on the other hand, is the country's political and judicial center.

In spring, the Keukenhof Gardens are a major attraction, displaying a sea of vibrant flowers.

Brussels is a city of vibrant contrasts, serving as the capital of Belgium and often as the political heart of the European Union. Its main landmark is the stunning Grand Place, a UNESCO World Heritage site surrounded by Gothic and Baroque buildings that impress both day and night. Other unmissable icons include the monumental Atomium, a structure representing an iron crystal that offers panoramic views of the city.
