CHERRY FESTIVAL
The town of Resende will once again be dressed in red to host another edition of the highly anticipated Cherry Festival.
The municipality asserts itself as the capital of this excellent fruit, celebrating the Resende cherry, recognized for its unique quality and for being the first to reach the market in all of Europe.
In addition to the Resende cherry, it will be possible to purchase other regional products, in a festive atmosphere that has already won over thousands of visitors over the years.
On May 31st, the highlight will be the Themed Parade starring the children of the municipality, which promises to fill the streets of the town with color, animation and joy!
Resende, a small municipality in the north of the Viseu district, has made its mark on the map of Portugal thanks to cherries, a product seen as "a gift from God."
Known as the "Cherry Capital", it stands out in the Douro wine region for its mountain landscapes, thermal waters, and strong historical tradition. Cherry production is one of the municipality's biggest economic and agricultural drivers, and the cherries are considered to be of very high quality. Resende cherries are nationally renowned for being among the first to reach markets throughout Europe.
